On Stage Road, McNally built a facility to prepare the best olive oil and a railroad terminal. His olive oil and fruit were sent throughout the United States.

The City of La Mirada was formed on March 23, 1960, as the 68th City in Los Angeles County under the name Mirada Hills, after three elections, two of which were unsuccessful. Andrew McNally contributed the property to "Proposition T" in the November 1960 election to rename the City La Mirada. Prop T passed with an overwhelming majority, making it the first City in the county to change its name. By 1965, the new City had absorbed most of the unorganized region surrounding it.

The City attracted a lot of interest since it was supposed to be planned and ordered. During the early 1950s, the City of La Mirada was dubbed "the Nation's planned city" and attracted a lot of attention from the State Fair. The City was recognized for planning for the future while remaining realistic in the present.
